Residential Design
Proportion & Scale Architects specializes in custom Residential Design of all shapes and sizes. We have spent many years working on various custom home designs for Sedona, Flagstaff, and the surrounding areas and have come to know the aspects of successful designs as influenced by our geography and climate. We have have designed and built homes using conventional building systems of wood frame and masonry, as well as many homes that utilize more traditional systems such as adobe and rammed earth. Many of our design philosophies come from understanding the climates of our region which can vary tremendously just from Flagstaff to Sedona. We incorporate many passive solar design techniques that will bring glorious sunshine and excellent natural ventilation into your space. These building blocks of our designs thus create warm and inviting living and working spaces which offer net-zero home energy performance for a lifetime of comfortable living.
Commercial Design
Proportion & Scale Architects has produced many creative and inviting dining and restaurant environments, retail spaces, and multi-family housing units in and around northern Arizona. From the Lumberyard Taproom Bar & Grille, Criollo Latin inspired grill, The Root Public House, to Vermillion Cliffs/Lee’s Ferry Lodge, this work spans more than a decade of design and construction. Commercial retail spaces in both Sedona and Flagstaff have functioned to serve the needs of several different clients with varying size spaces and budgets. Two projects in Sedona, the Cheers Outdoor Store and Terrapin Station, received Sedona Main Street Design Excellence awards when they were completed. Multi-family residential developments have also been undertaken here in Flagstaff, as well as rammed earth vacation rentals for the Vermillion Cliffs Lodge located on the edge of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument outside of Marble Canyon Arizona.
